New Beginners course starts Thursday 4th November

Our new beginners course commences on Thursday 4th November at Whitby Spa. The range will be solely used to run the beginners course and we have a maximum of 12 places available.

During the 6 week course, beginners will be taught the correct shooting technique (with and/or without sights).  The course  will also include safety, etiquette and the rules of shooting, so that the beginners can be signed off at the end of the course and join a club straight away.  At the last session, club members will be invited to shoot with the beginners to enable them to gain experience of shooting in a club environment.

The course fee is £45.00 per person and includes all tuition, equipment and insurance.

Budding Archers enjoy free coaching sessions

Around 50 budding archers enjoyed the free coaching sessions offered by Whitby Company of Archers on Sunday 11th July as part of the Archery GB Big Weekend. Nearly 100 people from as young as 3, to over 80 were out at Eskdale School in Whitby, taking part in a range of archery based fun activities.

The younger ones were able to take on the Sheriff of Nottingham hiding in his castle, with the older ones having a go at target archery guided by the club coaches. The event was supported by North Yorkshire County Council Supporting Communities Fund, whose help funded some new equipment and made sure that the event could take place in a covid safe environment.
