Welcome to our target & field archery club in North Yorkshire.
Company of Archers is a small, friendly target archery club based in the
picturesque fishing town of Whitby, North Yorkshire. We welcomes
archers of all abilities from all sections of society.
We have an active membership, shooting a range of different bow styles, including recurve (both barebow and freestyle/olympic), compound, longbow and flatbow.
Our outdoor range allows for targets at a variety of distances from 10m up to 50m, with a second range area dedicated for beginners courses.
Club is registered with Archery GB, as well as supporting the
British Longbow society (BLBS) and the National Field Archery Society
During the spring and summer months (usually from April to September), we shoot outdoors. The rest of the year, the Club move indoors to enable members to shoot all year round.
For information on how to become a member or enrol on the Beginners' courses held by the Club, please see our membership page. Do browse our site and if you would like further information regarding any aspect of the Club, please contact us and we will respond to your queries as soon as possible.
Our new beginners course commences on Thursday 4th November at Whitby Spa. The range will be solely used to run the beginners course and we have a maximum of 12 places available.
During the 6 week course, beginners will be taught the correct shooting technique (with and/or without sights). The course will also include safety, etiquette and the rules of shooting, so that the beginners can be signed off at the end of the course and join a club straight away. At the last session, club members will be invited to shoot with the beginners to enable them to gain experience of shooting in a club environment.
The course fee is £45.00 per person and includes all tuition, equipment and insurance.

Club members were out in force on Tuesday evening to enjoy some sunny target archery.
In addition to our regular members, we also welcomed our first group of new beginners folloing the recent successful Come and Try Archery Event. Demand has meant that beginners courses will be running outdoors on Tuesday and Thursday evening until mid September.
We are currently arranging dates for further courses indoors and will post the dates as soon as they are finanlised.
Around 50 budding archers enjoyed the free coaching sessions offered by Whitby Company of Archers on Sunday 11th July as part of the Archery GB Big Weekend. Nearly 100 people from as young as 3, to over 80 were out at Eskdale School in Whitby, taking part in a range of archery based fun activities.
The younger ones were able to take on the Sheriff of Nottingham hiding in his castle, with the older ones having a go at target archery guided by the club coaches. The event was supported by North Yorkshire County Council Supporting Communities Fund, whose help funded some new equipment and made sure that the event could take place in a covid safe environment.
